Real Madrid U-19s Stage Thrilling Comeback to Win Youth League Opener

In a match filled with twists and turns, Real Madrid's Under-19 team kicked off their UEFA Youth League campaign with a spectacular 3-2 comeback victory over Olympique Marseille. After twice falling behind, the young Madridistas showed incredible heart to secure all three points in front of their home fans at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium.

The first half was a story of missed opportunities for the home side. Despite creating several good chances, they were repeatedly denied by Marseille's inspired goalkeeper, Badoui. The keeper made brilliant saves to stop efforts from Valdepeñas and Carlos Díez. The deadlock was broken just before halftime, but against the run of play, as Marseille's Mmadi finished a swift counterattack to give the French side a 1-0 lead.

The second half began slowly, but Real Madrid's persistence finally paid off just before the hour mark. After a scramble in the Marseille penalty area, defender Calisto unfortunately turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a shot from Barroso, leveling the score at 1-1.

Marseille responded strongly, however. Mmadi struck again in the 73rd minute to silence the home crowd and put his team back in front, 2-1.

What followed was a heart-stopping finale. Just as it seemed Madrid might fall to a defeat, they mounted a furious comeback. Roberto Martín, who had come on as a substitute, equalized in the 80th minute with a powerful right-footed shot that gave the keeper no chance.

The young Whites weren't finished. Pushing forward for a winner, they were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute after a Marseille handball. Barroso stepped up and coolly converted from the spot, completing a remarkable turnaround and sealing a memorable 3-2 victory to start their Youth League journey.
